Authoring Action and The Dwelling have developed their fourth engagement that amplifies the voices of Winston-Salem’s unhoused and housing insecure. Through a fourth series of Authoring Action Creative Writing workshops led by Nathan Ross Freeman and Lynn Rhoades in collaboration with local artists Tammy Baldwin Willard, Tiffany Thompson, and Jeremiah “Jazz” Salter, authors from The Dwelling have written monologues, poems, stories, and songs that give a glimpse into the full personhood of people living on the margins of our community, exploring Judgement, Resilience, Storms and Grace. Their stories challenge the stereotypes that exist about people experiencing homelessness, and name the realities of the systems that may unwittingly contribute to the oppressive qualities of homelessness - individually, culturally and systemically.
